When you, as a medical professional started your practices, were you dreaming of being buried in paperwork?
Probably not. Yet that is exactly the nightmare you may be confronting today.
We can help simplify some of that paperwork when it comes to insurance. Did you know that The Hartford offers Daily Limit Options for Business Income that make it easier for healthcare providers to recover income from cancelled patient appointments due to a covered loss? We already offer Actual Loss Sustained (ALS) coverage for Business Income. Our new Stretch endorsements now provide these additional options:
- A simple $500 per day reimbursement for up to 10 business days - no paperwork needed
- A daily average limit up to 10 business days based on the business income in the 12 months preceding the date of loss - minimal paperwork required
- A predetermined daily limit up to 25 business days if you also have the Business Income for Interruption of Practice endorsement -- no paperwork required
Worker's Compensation for Healthcare Workers
It's estimated that one in ten healthcare workers is accidently stuck by a contaminated sharp—mostly needlesticks—each year*. Some sharps injuries may result in a life threatening infection such as HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C.
It's no wonder accidental needlestick injuries are a top health and safety concern of healthcare practice owners and workers. How a sharps injury claim is handled can make a big difference to healthcare workers and businesses.
The Hartford's Workers' Compensation practice includes payment for the initial cost of testing the healthcare employee as well as reimbursement for the cost of testing the source patient, which few other carriers cover today.
Reimbursement for the cost of testing the source patient saves the healthcare office costs and gives added peace of mind to the injured healthcare employee. If the source patient agrees to testing, the healthcare worker may be able to determine more quickly if he or she was exposed to any blood-borne illnesses. Importantly, if testing results reveal the patient has a blood-borne disease, The Hartford's Workers' Compensation program will work with the healthcare worker to obtain preventative treatment.
